NOT a Piece of Cake!
I spoke too soon in my last post. Jess had a grand mal seizure at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning. We did stop it with a lot of medication but it was so frightening. Everyone wonders if he might not be able to handle the anesthesia and the other drugs they gave him in the hospital. It was in July that he had the last one. He was "wiped out" all week. I stayed home and watched him like a hawk. Brandie stayed with him all week too and then he went to school on Friday. Brandie said he had more facial expressions and quite a few smiles...a good sign. We had to up his night dosage of seizure medicine and so far it doesn't seem like it has affected him too much. We were hoping to get to a year seizure free so he could get off the medicine. So...we just start over! Sending lots of love to all of you...

i really hope jess can get rid of his medicine soon too! in the mean time, i am exceptionally grateful for it...
maybe it helped prevent other seizures over the last few years.
i will be returning to Hailey on Saturday for a visit (i go to college at University of Idaho). i would love to come visit jess if you felt comfortable with it.
until then i will send lots of love from here!
I'm sorry, I don't know how else to post a comment. My name is Olivia Van Leuven and I was in a car accident on January 1, 2000. After years on limping, a wandering eye, doing/saying the weirdest things, a billion surgeries, a contracted right arm, and slurred speech, I've come completely back to normal. I have some really good news for you: When I limped really bad, I was having dreams about once a week in which I was running. I was running with the slightest limp, but I was running nonetheless. Now, I CAN run. I can run with a limp that is barely noticeable, but I run. What I wanted to tell you was that if Daniel has been having dreams about Jess awake and alert as if nothing has happened, then this is a sign! It's gonna happen! It happened to me, so maybe it is God's way of letting us know that this is only temporary. Jess, being so young, has age on his side. Thank God for that. Jess WILL be fine. When this is all over with, he will be back EXACTLY as he was before, only a little cooler and with more character. It is a mathematical certainty. Anyone is welcome to
e-mail me.
love, Olivia

Thank you Leslie. Is this the Leslie that grew up with Jess on Woodside Blvd? Please come over anytime to see Jess.
Thank you Olivia! I will email you soon and would love to know more about your recovery. You are so kind to share such wonderful, positive thoughts. I read your blog to Jess twice and he was very intent on listening.
